Cake smash fun

Cake smash sessions have been around for about 15 years and have really taken off in the last 10 years, becoming much more popular and elaborate with the set designs. It’s believed they first started as a tradition in the US. I was one of the first photographers here in the UK to offer cake smash sessions, and over the years my set designs and outfits have become even more detailed and bespoke.

Every set I create is built by hand using my vast collection of props. I never use printed backgrounds because I don’t like the idea of someone else having the exact same setup. Every set I create is unique and built especially for my clients.

Here are just a few of my favourite themes:

A cakesmash creates a lasting memory of a very special occasion - your baby's first birthday. It’s a monumental occasion, a once in a lifetime occurrence, and it should be celebrated.

With a cakesmash session, I will create images that encapsulate that moment in a memory keepsake that will be treasured for a lifetime.

Plus, it’s so much fun, and the finished images will look beautiful as part of your party decor and then hanging on the wall in your kitchen as a reminder of how very cute they were.

First you book a date.

Then you tell me what you like, if you already have a theme in mind I will create it, if you don’t I will help you decide.

I provide the cake, the outfits and the decorations.

I will build the set the evening before your smash and send you a video of the setup.

At the session we will begin with some family shots if you like.

Then some milestone images.

Then the cake comes out and we let them smash it, squash it and do whatever they like.

Finally they will have a bath in one of my vintage tubs.

At the end just sit back and relax while I prepare a slide show of your images so with my help you can pick your favourites.
